With the legalization of recreational marijuana in Massachusetts, a Shakespeare company experiments with the highs and lows and highs and highs of performing Hamlet while stoned. The cast brings Shakespeare’s classic tragedy out of the musty classroom and into the arena of improvised comedy. High Hamlet combines the high poetry, intrigue, and action of Shakespeare with the excitement and unpredictability of unscripted performance. To make it even more unpredictable, we’re throwing in an actor or two under the influence of marijuana. It’s a combination likely to result in the greatest evening of theatre the world has ever seen. The performance is bound to leave you asking, “Doobie, or not doobie.”
