Improv Asylum

Improv Asylum at the Hard Rock Cafe

The year was 1997. Bill Clinton was just starting his “cigar years.” Divorce was legalized in Ireland. A young spitfire named Tara Lipinski captured the bejeweled-studded hearts and minds of the ice skating world. And a fledgling comedy troupe was performing Monday nights in the basement of the old Hard Rock Cafe on Clarendon Street. The service elevator shaft served as the green room and waitresses literally served food by crossing through the stage, hollering to find out “who ordered the chicken fingers?!” Who knew that that would lay the foundation for Improv Asylum.

After finding their home on Hanover Street, Improv Asylum has been entertaining Bostonians since the days of the Big Dig. Twelve years, two presidents and a relocation for the Hard Rock Cafe later (they’re now on the edge of Faneuil Hall!), and “we’re getting the band back together!”

Improv Asylum is excited to announce a special six-week series of shows at the new Hard Rock Cafe (22-24 Clinton Street, Boston) ! We’ll be helping to celebrate their 25th year with shows Thursday through Saturday nights in the rockin’ Cavern Club starting up Thursday, January 21st and running through Saturday, February 27th. Shows will be:

Thursdays 8pm
Fridays 8pm & 10pm
Saturdays 7pm, 9pm & 11pm

Tickets for all shows are $25 and can still be ordered by calling Improv Asylum at 617.263.NUTS (6887) or going online at www.improvasylum.com/tickets/.

All shows at the Hard Rock Cafe are 18+. Patrons must show proper ID to the Hard Rock Cafe personnel in order to purchase alcoholic beverages. Dinner service is available during the shows.

And what, you ask, will be happening at our Improv Asylum location? We’ll be rockin’ things out in a different way — our main location will be dark while we undergo some exciting new renovations. Scintillating highlights include bigger, better restrooms, a new bar and box office and brand new seating. Stay tuned for details for the grand unveiling of the “new” digs in March. And until then, Rock On.

Parking: validations are available at 75 State Street and the Parcel 7 Garage.
