Marty Johnson

Marty Johnson writes, performs and produces comedy for stage, TV and film. She is currently co-writing and developing a sitcom pilot for NBC / Universal. Marty performed improv and sketch comedy as a Mainstage actor/writer at Improv Asylum for many years before touring her own two-woman sketch show, Somebody’s in the Doghouse with Leah Gotcsik. Doghouse has toured nationally to festivals including SF Sketchfest, LA Comedyfest, dccomedyfest, and Chicago Sketchfest. Additionally, Marty has performed improv and sketch for The Second City aboard the Norwegian Dawn and Psychic Improv with Mark Odlum & Will Luera in NY/Boston.

 Marty’s independent pilots have been featured at the New York Television Festival two-years running, as well as the LA Independent TV Festival and Chicago Comedy Pilot Competition. She wrote and co-created, “Strange Faculty,” which won Best Film in the NBC Comedy Short Cuts Competition. Additionally, Marty’s comedic shorts have screened in the Austin Film Festival, Lone Star Film Festival, The Second City’s Comedy Film series, the Annoyance Theater’s Video Night, been featured by the editors offunnyordie.com, crackle.com, and selected for international broadcast by mevio.com. Marty’s writing was commissioned for the theater production, “PS Page Me Later” which won an Elliot Norton Theater Critic’s Award.
